eight weeks post op

D ear FAI: You tried to knock me down, you tried to cripple me, but I am stronger than you and even if it takes longer than I thought, I will knock you out! I am eight weeks post op now. Learning how to walk again is not an easy task. I saw Dr. Wong for my 6 week follow up appointment on Monday. My strength is still very weak. But he did reassure me that I am doing well and moving forward in the right direction. Can't ask for more than that right?

seven weeks post op

W ow! Seven weeks post hip surgery. I am making slow, but steady progress. I am finally off my crutches and working hard to learn how to walk again. This past week has been the hardest week for me mentally. I am not sure what I expected to be feeling at this point in my recovery, but my walk is not perfect, my range of motion is still limited and I still have pain.  This whole process is certainly more challenging than I ever imagined it would be. But I know it will be worth it in the end and I have the most incredible support system.  I am continuing to do mini wall squats and 30-40 minutes on the upright bike  each day. I hope to progress to free squats next week. I see my surgeon next week, so will find out how he thinks I am doing then :)

post op day: 42

I t's officially six weeks since my hip surgery.  This is a HUGE milestone for me in this recovery. It's been a long time coming, but I finally got rid of my hip brace, compression socks and one crutch (although still have to use two crutches for longer distances). Today is literally the best day!  I am continuing with physiotherapy two times a week, as well as pool therapy (which is so amazing, I can't believe I ever doubted it). I am finally allowed to do mini wall squats, which is super motivating, as I miss my workouts so damn much!  The next while will focus on continuing to build strength and work on learning to walk properly again.  down to one crutch :)
